Von Buren Contemporary is pleased to present Sweet Dreams, the solo exhibition by Italian artist Lucia Simone. The show offers six years of immersive research from the Perugia-born painter, who recently joined the gallery’s roster of artists. Anna Gasperini will introduce the exhibition and its themes.Opening Night and Viewing. Vernissage will remain on view through November 20.
Simone’s disturbing, visionary oil paintings form a knotty elegy to youth, exploring the delicate thresholds between waking life and the unconscious, memory and imagination. The works invite viewers into a dreamlike landscape where existential questions tied to solitude, identity, and mental anguish surface with haunting clarity.

Lucia Simone was born in Perugia in 1986 and trained at the Academy of Fine Arts in Rome, where she specialized in Painting and Engraving. Her emotionally charged works have earned prizes and have been shown widely in galleries and museums across Italy and beyond.
Frequently turning to the human figure as her central motif, Simone infuses her canvases with intense personality, crafting hypnotic atmospheres that draw the viewer in. Her paintings capture a moment of shared, unguarded intimacy between subject and observer, with figures that seem to hover at the invisible boundary between dream and nightmare.
