Ignacio Anitz was born in Bilbao, Spain, in 1992. With a college background in sustainable economics, his fascination with art and literature blossomed after extensive travels across Europe, where he absorbed influences from ancient cultures and urban life. In 2016, he pursued private courses in Creative Expression at Bilbo Arte, an artistic and institutional hub guided by Inés Medina, a renowned international painter of conceptual abstraction active on the New York scene. He developed his own distinctive style in 2025, blending urban techniques (primarily graffiti) with expressionism and manga-inspired drawing. His works are archetypal and reflect philosophical ideas drawn from ancient European cultures (Greek, Celtic, Slavic, Iberian). To unite the past with the present and reflect a passion for ritualism through a spiritual approach, his artistic motto is: “Colours in movement for a timeless energy.”
“The fusion of my two passions, writing and art, is an intuitive process that naturally leads to merging contemporary painting with fiction, poetry, and philosophical writing. While the combination may seem unconventional, I have found that applying reflections on the world to visual art—and vice versa—produces the strongest results. A critical view of society, questioning its mechanisms and seeking the common essence of cultures, opens a path to represent fears, passions, and contradictions on a personal level, which are then reflected in painted images that we can touch. What is a person without their thoughts and their representation of the world? Our emotions are also filtered by how we understand them, moving from the unconscious to the conscious”, he said.
Ignacio has published several works in English and Spanish, reflecting a thematic merge of art history, cultural critique, and dialogues between past and present. Notable titles include: “Bronce salvaje, a Italia saqueando arte” [Wild clues of bronze, to Italy looting art], “Gambito europeo, lo oculto se hizo historia” [Foam and bow, a microcosmos of art], “Arco y espuma, un microcosmos de arte”. The artist maintains an active public presence across several platforms. His author profile on Amazon.es showcases his published works in both English and Spanish, reflecting his engagement with art history, cultural critique, and the dialogue between past and present. His Instagram, @oladarty, serves as a dynamic channel for updates on new works, studio processes, and exhibition news. His personal website and portfolio can be found at ignanitzart.weebly.com, which hosts his bio, statements, and a selection of works.
