Rome, Italy – June 19, 2025 – Von Buren Contemporary is excited to announce the opening of the group exhibition ANIMAL HOUSE, showcasing the captivating works of nine contemporary Italian artists. This vibrant exhibition will open its doors on Thursday, June 26, 2025, from 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM and will remain on display until July 22, 2025.

Curated by Michele von Büren, the exhibition transforms the gallery into a whimsical space filled with a diverse array of paintings, sculptures, and drawings that celebrate the animal kingdom. Visitors will experience a delightful journey through familiar and fantastical creatures, highlighted by bright colors, unexpected combinations, and visual surprises that evoke the enchantment of childhood alongside the wit of adulthood.

Among the featured artists, Andrea Barzini presents small oil paintings that anthropomorphize animals, depicting them in human roles and outfits. Bato, known for his key themes of marine life, showcases a massive canvas of a whale accompanied by a series of polished bronze sculptures that invite viewers to contemplate the majestic creature.

Highlighting the bond between pets and their owners, Giuseppe Gallace explores the figure of the dog in a series of five canvases set against untamed backgrounds. Meanwhile, Gianlorenzo Gasperini, typically associated with human figures, introduces a striking new sculpture of a large, imposing cat.

Adding a whimsical touch, Maiti has created a playful mix of horses, dogs, and mice crafted from papier-mâché and wire. In contrast, Moreno Pette transports the audience to a primordial age, filled with bizarre, savage, and even extinct animals through his unique artworks.

The exhibition also features young artist Irene Rossetti, whose surreal drawings merge lifelike elements with fantastical embellishments, offering a humorous perspective. Lastly, Beppe Stasi, a talented watercolorist from Calabria, elegantly depicts horses, dogs, and bulls, while Luca Zarattini presents two large charcoal drawings of cats that ingeniously conceal their subjects.

With its playful exploration of the animal world, ANIMAL HOUSE promises to be a visually stimulating experience, inviting visitors to engage with the art in unexpected and delightful ways.

If you are in Rome, join the gallery for the opening of ANIMAL HOUSE and immerse yourself in the imaginative realms shaped by these talented artists.
