After a lengthy hiatus from releasing music, Bay Area rapper J.Morgan is back with a bang. The prolific emcee has announced a new music video titled Journal, created in collaboration with DisMissedFit, set to premiere on July 2nd, 2026. Fans can follow the link to join the premiere and receive a notification the moment the video goes live.
J.Morgan — born Jonathan Albert Morgan on April 6th, 1989, in Daly City, California — has been a consistent force in the West Coast hip hop scene since 2008. What began as freestyle sessions at Cappuccino High School evolved into a full-fledged career when he entered the scene under the alias J-Doe in 2010 with his debut mixtape Money Be Da Motivation, presented by Goldtoes Entertainment and featuring Bay Area legend San Quinn.
The name switch from J-Doe to J.Morgan in 2015 marked a turning point. Symbolically, it represented an artist who had found himself — no longer an unidentifiable “John Doe,” but a distinct voice with a clear artistic vision. That same year, he began working with producer and songwriter Bryce Graven (aka Shiesty), together crafting his debut solo album Human. The project helped define a sound and style that has become J.Morgan’s signature.
Over the years, J.Morgan’s catalog has grown impressively. From the 2011 mixtape More Bars In More Places (which produced the fan-favorite Vodka In My Coffee and his first professional music video by 4Reel Films) to six collaborative albums with Heroe Diah Pyles between 2012 and 2014, and the two-part EP Demons in 2016 — his body of work reflects relentless output and artistic growth.
His music has been described as a “musical diary” — honest, personal, and touching on matters close to the heart. And he matches those raw lyrics with cinematic visuals that are anything but average. Tracks like The Trap and Echo showcase his ability to pair compelling storytelling with high-quality production.
On stage, J.Morgan has consistently earned his reputation, headlining his own shows while supporting touring artists such as Andre Nikatina, J.Lately, Equipto, and Berner. He also hit the road on the Bourne Madd Tour across the United States alongside J.Lately, Telli Prego, and Hugo Monster.
Now, with Journal, J.Morgan and DisMissedFit are set to deliver what promises to be another striking addition to his video catalog. After a long break, the return is a welcome one for fans of authentic, well-crafted hip hop.
Journal premieres July 2nd, 2026. Don’t miss it.
