Sławomir Likos, a second-year photography student at the Policealne Studium Animatorów Kultury (PSAK) in Krosno, is quickly establishing himself as a promising talent in photography. Hailing from the Podkarpacie region, Likos has recently earned top honors in national competitions and has co-authored two notable exhibitions, showcasing a distinctive artistic voice that blends technical precision with visual storytelling.
Likos secured 1st place in the prestigious photographic contest organized by Photo Magazine — the “One Theme, One Week” competition. This achievement, which earned him the title of “Fotograf Roku” (Photographer of the Year) in the plebiscite, reflects his ability to deliver compelling visual narratives under the constraints of a thematic, time-limited format. With a score of 46 points, he topped the ranking, standing out among numerous participants from across the country. Additionally, he received an honorable mention in a competition organized by Szerokikadr.pl, further confirming the breadth of his skills.
On December 14, 2025, Likos presented his solo exhibition titled “Dirty Dancing” at PSAK in Krosno. The promotional poster for the event — a dynamic black-and-white photograph of two dancers caught in a tango-like motion — already hinted at the exhibition’s thematic core: movement, tension, and the interplay of bodies in space, rendered through dramatic use of light and blur. The exhibition’s red cursive title contrasts elegantly with the monochrome imagery, suggesting a bold, contemporary aesthetic.
On April 10, 2026, a vernissage was held at the Biuro Wystaw Artystycznych (BWA) in Krosno for “Dni Autorskie” (Authors’ Days), a group exhibition featuring works by second-year photography students from PSAK. Likos co-authored this year’s edition alongside Anna Pufka and Anita Ślusarczyk. The exhibition, open until April 17, 2026, was realized with financial support from the City of Krosno.
Likos is also among the authors of “Światło z Bóbrki” (Light from Bóbka), an exhibition prepared in collaboration with the Ignacy Łukasiewicz Museum of the Oil and Gas Industry in Bóbka and PSAK. The exhibition presents contemporary photographic interpretations of one of the world’s oldest oil extraction sites, capturing the dialogue between industrial heritage and the natural landscape. The vernissage is scheduled for December 3, 2026, at 5:00 PM at the Regionalne Centrum Kultur Pogranicza in Krosno.
The artists guide the viewer’s attention to the details of technical structures and traces of decades of human activity, juxtaposing them with organic forms of the surrounding environment. As the exhibition description notes: “It is a story about endurance, memory, and beauty hidden in the everyday objects of oil workers. Each photograph is a separate title, a separate story — from ‘The Steel Breath of Rain’ to ‘Winter Guests’ in the form of forest wildlife.” The collective of photographers includes: Krzysztof Antosz, Bartłomiej Bator, Anna Chudzik, Aneta Gorczyca, Magdalena Grochala, Klaudia Kędzior, Katarzyna Korona, Sławomir Likos, Damian Machnik, Justyna Marczak, Paulina Michalska, Weronika Mocek, Anna Pufka, Aleksandra Soja, and Anita Ślusarczyk.
He has been taking photographs for ten years and is, at his core, a self-taught artist. He began with nature photography, and his artistic curiosity has since led him to a deep passion for monochromatic work. A versatile photographer, he does not limit himself to a single subject. As he puts it: “We are limited only by imagination…” He currently works with the Sony system.
With a first-place national finish, multiple exhibition credits, and a growing body of work that spans dynamic portraiture, industrial landscape, and documentary-style storytelling, Sławomir Likos is a name to watch. His ability to find beauty and narrative in both human movement and industrial decay suggests an artist with a mature eye and a thoughtful approach — rare qualities in a student just two years into his formal education.
