The upcoming exhibition “Moto d’Origine” by the acclaimed artist Gianluigi Maria Masucci, curated by Giorgio Verzotti, promises to be a profound exploration of Naples’ historical and cultural essence. Set to take place at the Chiesa di Sant’Aniello a Caponapoli, this exhibition will run from December 14, 2024, to February 6, 2025.
The exhibition will feature critical texts by Giorgio Verzotti and Stefania Zuliani, offering visitors a deeper understanding of Masucci’s artistic journey and the themes he addresses. The opening night on December 14, 2024, will mark the beginning of an artistic dialogue that seeks to bridge the ancient and the contemporary, inviting viewers to reflect on the layers of history that shape the city of Naples.
In conjunction with the exhibition, a thematic meeting titled “Nello spazio attraverso il tempo” was held on January 31, 2025, at 11:00 AM, at the same venue. This event featured doctoral students from the DISPAC – University of Salerno, who engaged in a thoughtful discussion with Masucci about his research process. They explored how his work dialogues with the remnants and memories of the ancient world within the urban landscape of Naples.
The meeting was introduced by Stefania Zuliani, who emphasized the importance of understanding the historical context of Masucci’s work. The students’ reflections highlighted the intricate relationship between art and the city’s heritage, showcasing how contemporary practices can illuminate the past.
The “Moto d’Origine” exhibition is not just an artistic showcase; it is an invitation to delve into the rich tapestry of Naples’ history and culture. Through Masucci’s work, visitors will have the opportunity to engage with the city’s ancient narratives and contemporary expressions, fostering a deeper appreciation for the artistic dialogue that continues to evolve in this vibrant city.
