From May 7 to May 9, 2026, StartDock, Amsterdam, Netherlands, a coworking community in Amsterdam, will collaborate with Novus Arte to present an exclusive contemporary art exhibition in a space that is normally reserved for members and daily working life. Instead of bringing art into a traditional gallery setting, the organizers invert the usual formula: the exhibition unfolds inside a real, lived-in environment where ideas are discussed, projects are developed, and people share a momentum that never fully stops.
The result is a kind of art experience that feels less “staged” and more immediate. Visitors aren’t simply observing works at a distance—they are moving through a space that carries its own energy, routines, and creativity. This approach turns the coworking atmosphere into part of the exhibition’s meaning, encouraging visitors to consider how art can interact with professional life and entrepreneurial thinking rather than existing only as a separate cultural experience.
One of the most compelling aspects of the event is the way it challenges conventional expectations. Contemporary art is often framed through the language of museums, curated walls, and formal viewing conditions. Here, the exhibition is embedded in StartDock’s working atmosphere, which naturally changes how artworks are encountered.
In this setting, art becomes something closer to a conversation—something that sits alongside desks, collaborations, and the “in-progress” feel of a community. That shift matters. It suggests that contemporary art doesn’t only belong to quiet rooms or institutional spaces, but can also thrive in places where people are actively building, experimenting, and thinking out loud. By doing so, the event aims to reduce the distance between artists and the wider audience, while also inviting a new kind of curiosity—one rooted in both culture and everyday creativity.
The exhibition’s opening days are designed to be more than a walkthrough. On May 7–9, 2026, the program includes activities intended to deepen the connection between artists and visitors. These include artist talks, moments for discussion and context, and live music that adds a social, welcoming dimension to the experience.
This matters because the event is built around encounter: between artists and entrepreneurs, between creative industries and the public, and between the process of making and the process of doing. Rather than treating art as a final product, the program encourages visitors to see it as a living practice—something connected to ideas, decisions, and experimentation.
The exhibition features a group of Dutch and international artists, bringing multiple perspectives into the same space. Among the artists listed are Bensink Erichsen and Eelco van Loenen, alongside other participants from different backgrounds and artistic approaches.
By combining local and international names, the exhibition broadens its viewpoint and reinforces its public-facing ambition: to create a welcoming platform where contemporary art can be experienced without gatekeeping, and where different kinds of audiences can feel invited rather than intimidated.
Access to the exhibition is free, but registration is required. You can do it here: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/artdock-curated-by-novus-arte-tickets-1987393583708. Visitors can register through the event page associated with “ArtDock x Novus Arte”. This ensures the organizers can manage entry smoothly while keeping the experience open and accessible.
While the opening celebration takes place over May 7–9, 2026, the exhibition will remain accessible to the public for a much longer period, staying on view until September 9, 2026. That extended timeline gives visitors flexibility: they can attend during the opening days for talks and music, or return later to experience the works at a quieter pace—when the energy of the launch has settled into the everyday rhythm of the space.
