From 7 to 29 November 2026, Galleria Quadrifoglio in Rho (Milan) hosts “Segni Sottili – Syzygy”, a two-person exhibition bringing together the work of Susy Manzo and Italo Mazzei.
The title refers to syzygy, the astronomical alignment of celestial bodies — a fitting metaphor for an exhibition conceived as an encounter between sensibilities, materials and imaginations, between nature and cosmos. The two artists’ research paths are distinct, yet the exhibition places them in meaningful dialogue: Manzo’s intimate exploration of paper and fabric meets Mazzei’s investigation of colour, geometry and space inspired by the mysteries of the universe.
Manzo’s practice investigates fragility and memory through paper cutting, tearing, layering, stitching, embroidery and crochet. Fragments and memories are patiently recomposed in a gesture of care and meditation — a manual practice deeply rooted in the memory of her mother’s sartorial mastery. Her naturalistic embroideries transform acts of repair into quiet, meditative works.
Mazzei, an artist and researcher, translates scientific theories and reflections on space into visible, tangible works. His pictorial research explores colour, geometry and space, drawing on the enigmas of the universe. The exhibition features works from several of his cycles, including Geometrie Universali, Geometrie Casual(i), Gravitas, Rameverso and Altri Universi — including his collages in which copper wire traces stars and planets.
In her critical text, curator Vera Agosti reads the encounter between Manzo’s naturalistic embroideries and Mazzei’s celestial imagery as a union of opposites: lightness and strength, abstraction and figure, masculine and feminine, chaos and harmony. The alignment evoked by the title becomes not merely astronomical, but poetic — two artistic visions finding their point of coincidence.
