Pedro D’Onofrio Dibos, born in Lima, Peru, in 1986, is a distinguished artist whose work has garnered attention both locally and internationally. His artistic journey is marked by a commitment to education, social engagement, and a deep appreciation for the arts.
D’Onofrio began his educational journey at the Leonardo Da Vinci School, where he laid the foundation for his artistic pursuits. He further honed his skills in graphic design at the Instituto Toulouse Lautrec. His passion for art led him to seek private lessons in perspective from architect Alfio Pinasco and to study art history with Carmen Jarque, a graduate of the Pontificia Universidad Católica and a respected plastic artist.
In 2006, the artist took a significant step in his career by traveling to Italy to attend the prestigious Accademia Albertina delle Belle Arti di Torino. He graduated in 2013 with outstanding marks in the Laurea di Pittura, solidifying his status as a skilled painter.
Since 2006, D’Onofrio has been actively exhibiting his work. His pieces are part of private collections in various cities, including Turin, Rome, Biella, La Puglia, Naples (Italy), Barcelona (Spain), Paris (France), New York, Los Angeles, Miami, Cambridge (USA), and Lima (Peru). This international presence highlights the universal appeal of his art.
In particular, the exhibition that will be presented in Naples is inspired by all those who migrate for various reasons, always in search of a new perspective and a better future. D’Onofrio explains that he titled this exhibition “D’Ritorno” because it evokes a particular sensitivity in him. He considers that departures and returns are never easy, as there is always an expectation in between, something that excites, challenges, confronts, and moves us.
“Esta exposición es como abrir mi corazón, mi estudio y mi espacio donde el caos y la belleza pasan juntos,” Pedro D’Onofrio shares about his current exhibition in Naples.
The exhibition will take place at Mame Ostrichina, via Carlo di Cesare 52, on May 18 at 6:30 p.m. and will remain open until June 1. Importantly, a percentage of his sales will be donated to Kusimayo, an association that supports underprivileged children in Puno, Peru.
In addition to his artistic endeavors, D’Onofrio is dedicated to community service and education. In 2016, he was invited by Backus to teach special needs students, demonstrating his commitment to making art accessible to all. The following year, he directed a drawing workshop at the Asociación Cultural El Gato Tulipán in Barranco, further contributing to the local art scene.
D’Onofrio has also collaborated on numerous social aid exhibitions, particularly with Kusimayo in Puno, showcasing his dedication to using art as a means of social change. Since 2019, he has been leading painting workshops at the Leonardo Da Vinci School, nurturing the next generation of artists.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, the painter adapted to the changing landscape of the art world by organizing virtual exhibitions and sales, ensuring that his work remained accessible to art lovers despite the challenges posed by the pandemic.
Currently residing in Lima, Pedro D’Onofrio continues to create and exhibit his work, alternating between exhibitions in Peru and Europe. His journey reflects a blend of artistic excellence, community involvement, and a passion for teaching, making him a notable figure in the contemporary art scene. His artistic journey is a testament to his dedication to the craft and his commitment to social engagement. As he continues to inspire others through his work and teachings, D’Onofrio remains a significant contributor to the cultural landscape of both Peru and the international art community.
