Pasquale Angelini is a celebrated musician whose creative spirit and collaborative mindset have led to the birth of innovative projects like “Saguifunk.” This unique endeavor is rooted in the desire to blend personal backgrounds and experiences with fellow musicians, resulting in a fresh sound that transcends traditional genres. Angelini’s vision for “Saguifunk” is to create music without boundaries, allowing for a rich tapestry of influences to come together.
Reflecting on his upcoming performance, which pays homage to the legendary Lucio Dalla, Angelini expresses a profound sense of fulfillment. Having participated in a similar tribute two decades ago, he acknowledges the growth and maturity he has gained as a musician since then. “Twenty years ago, I was focused on performing well alongside a genius of Italian music, but I didn’t fully appreciate the magic of that concert,” he shares. Now, he approaches this new tribute with a deeper understanding and appreciation for the art of music.
Angelini’s impressive resume includes collaborations with iconic figures such as Ennio Morricone, Gino Paoli, and Teresa De Sio. Recently, he recorded the drums for the new musical “I Tre Moschettieri Opera Pop,” written by Gio’ di Tonno, which will tour across Italy throughout 2025. In December, he participated in the final stages of Renzo Rubino’s tour, showcasing his versatility and dedication to the craft.
His latest project, “Find Out,” features the album “Saguifunk,” which he co-created with talented musicians Vincenzo Cristallo, Antonio Vinci, and Francesco Lomangino. This funky jazz collection showcases original compositions that reflect the collaborative spirit of Angelini and his peers. Additionally, he is set to release a new method for drums and bass, co-authored with bassist Vittorio Longobardi, titled “PA.VI.menti Ritmici.”
As the artistic director and drummer of his band, “Banda Eufonica,” Angelini is gearing up for a summer tour across Southern Italy. One of the highlights of his calendar is the concert on March 1, 2025, at the Teatro Nuovo in Martina Franca, which will honor Lucio Dalla with the voice of Renzo Rubino and the Youth Orchestra of the Valle d’Itria, conducted by Maestro Antonio Palazzo. This event not only commemorates Dalla’s legacy but also marks a significant moment for Angelini, who recalls performing as a drummer at Dalla’s concert at the same venue two decades ago.
Pasquale Angelini continues to push the boundaries of music, blending genres and collaborating with fellow artists to create something truly unique. His passion for music and dedication to his craft inspire many, making him a prominent figure in the contemporary music scene.
