Rome is celebrating a new milestone in its public-art landscape as Joana Vasconcelos unveils Solitário, the second monumental installation in a city-wide program presented by The Fondazione Valentino Garavani e Giancarlo Giammetti, in collaboration with PM23. This latest work follows the acclaimed I’ll Be Your Mirror in Piazza Mignanelli, continuing the initiative to merge art, fashion, and social engagement while making culture more accessible to residents and visitors alike.

The installation was inaugurated this morning on the Terrazza del Pincio, with the presence of Rome’s Mayor Roberto Gualtieri, the artist Joana Vasconcelos, and Giancarlo Giammetti. The event marks another milestone in the ongoing collaboration between the foundation and PM23, which aims to valorize Rome through diffusion-art projects and cultural programming.

As preparations for VENUS, Vasconcelos’ forthcoming exhibition opening in January 2026 at PM23, unfold, Solitário stands as a powerful prelude to the artist’s broader contribution to the Rome’s cultural tapestry. The work continues the program’s mission to unite art, fashion, and social impact, inviting the public to engage with contemporary sculpture and installation in iconic urban settings.

The Fondazione Valentino Garavani e Giancarlo Giammetti, together with PM23, reaffirm their commitment to fostering ambitious international art projects that shine a spotlight on Rome as a living museum of modern culture. Solitário will be on view on the Terrazza del Pincio as part of this ongoing, citywide dialogue between art, history, and public life.
