From June 15 to 21, the international week dedicated to refugees and migrants returns to Italy. Migrantour Napoli, managed by Casba Cooperativa Sociale, is participating in the second edition of Refugee Week Italia — coordinated by Second Tree and UNHCR — which will feature over 70 events across the country. The global theme for 2026 is Courage.
On Saturday, June 20, starting at 10:00 AM, two free walking itineraries will be offered:
“A Thousand Worlds at the Station” — A journey through the fascinating multicultural realities thriving around Piazza Garibaldi. Described as “the world tour at zero kilometers,” this walk offers unique colors, scents, faiths, traditions, and cultural cross-pollination. The route includes the multi-ethnic market of Via Bologna, a halal butcher shop, the mosque, the only Neapolitan pastry shop where you can sample sweets suited to all palates, and much more.
“In the Belly of Naples” — This itinerary explores the cultural and religious interweavings of the Piazza Mercato area, the Church of Carmine, Pakistani jewelry shops, and the gathering places of the Somali community — one of the first to arrive in the city — culminating at Naples’ second mosque, opened in 1997 in a former convent.
Both walks are free of charge. Reservations are mandatory and can be made by emailing: info@coopcasba.org
Refugee Week Italia was created to provide a platform where refugees and migrants can share their perspectives and contributions. The goal is to move beyond victimizing and simplistic narratives, recognizing people not only for the journeys they have undertaken, but for what they bring and give back to the communities where they live.
The national festival program is available at refugeeweek.org/refugeeweekitalia
About Casba Cooperativa Sociale
Founded in Naples in 2000 from the meeting of cultural mediators and social workers from different countries, Casba was the first cooperative founded by people of foreign origin in the city. Since then, it has worked to ensure that no one is left behind and that the city becomes a space for everyone. The cooperative embraces plurality as a founding value — what enriches territories, transforms them, and makes them more vibrant. Every day, Casba builds relationships, opens pathways, and creates opportunities for people to recognize themselves and participate in building an increasingly multicultural society founded on civil coexistence free from discrimination and prejudice.
