As part of the Salerno Design Week 2025, HoperAperta is excited to present the exhibition “La Casa del Silenzio Imperfetto” (The House of Imperfect Silence), curated by Maurizio Barberis and Patrizia Catalano. This engaging event will take place from May 21 to August 30, 2025, at the historic Palazzo Pinto, home to the Provincial Pinacoteca, located in the heart of Salerno.

“La Casa del Silenzio Imperfetto” explores the art of living, positioning the figure of the collector at the center of its narrative. In contemporary society, this figure often surpasses the traditional roles of the museum curator and artist. The exhibition represents the passionate and sometimes compulsive desire for collection, echoing an ongoing quest for completeness in a world that remains infinitely unfinished. The theme of imperfection serves as the foundational thread in discussions about the art of living, creating a dialogue that captures the unease of the collector through a rich array of visual and textual fragments.

This immersive experience will merge painting, photography, and sculpture, forming a tapestry that complements a fluid, undefined narrative driven by the endless pursuits of collection. The exhibition proposes a dangerous but enlightening journey towards viewing living spaces as total art forms, independent of their creators’ intentions, enhanced by the perspectives of others—an essential yet often underappreciated viewpoint.

The exhibition is structured as a series of immersive installations that unfold along a conceptual narrative, simulating a journey through time—from morning to night. Each installation represents different facets of domestic life, each associated with a specific time, function, and material. Key thematic elements include:

  • “La Maison que j’habite”
  • “Sei Stanze per una Casa dal Silenzio Imperfetto”
  • “Dal Giardino delle Delizie di Hieronimus Bosch”
  • “Sette Pezzi Facili”

La Casa del Silenzio Imperfetto represents an innovative approach to interior spaces, inviting viewers to reconsider how we experience homes as integrated works of art. It promises to be a thought-provoking and visually stunning part of the Salerno Design Week 2025, curated with passion and expertise by Patrizia Catalano and Maurizio Barberis.
