Celebrating Cinematic Excellence: The 13th Annual French Film Festival at MAC Lima Featuring Special Guests Michel Hazanavicius and Bérénice Bejo

The 13th French Film Festival is set to take place at the Museo de Arte Contemporáneo de Lima (MAC Lima), a prominent cultural venue in the heart of Barranco. This year, the festival brings an exciting lineup featuring films that reflect contemporary societal issues, celebrating the rich diversity of French cinema.

The festival will have the honor of hosting Oscar-winning director Michel Hazanavicius and acclaimed actress Bérénice Bejo as special guests. They will attend the screening of their award-winning film, “The Artist” (2011), on May 6 at 7:00 PM. The screening is expected to attract a full house, and attendees will have the unique opportunity to engage with Hazanavicius and Bejo as they share insights about the film.

The 13th French Film Festival at MAC Lima features a captivating lineup of screenings starting with “The Artist” on May 6 at 7:00 PM, presented by Oscar-winning director Michel Hazanavicius and actress Bérénice Bejo. The festival continues with “Cortos, cortos, cortos!” on May 8 at 7:00 PM, showcasing a selection of six short films that offer diverse perspectives on contemporary French cinema. Finally, on May 11 at 7:00 PM, the festival concludes with “Cortos frantásticos,” a collection of four audiovisual pieces that explore fantastical, dreamlike, and experimental themes. All screenings will take place in the museum’s park and are free to the public, helping foster a vibrant cultural exchange and celebrating the richness of French film.The festival not only celebrates cinematic art but also aims to provoke conversation on pressing social themes such as consent, the role of women through history, climate change, and contemporary justice.

The screenings will take place at MAC Lima, located at Av. Miguel Grau 1511, Barranco. The museum will open its doors at 6:30 PM, with entry to the events being free. This initiative is part of a collaborative effort between the French Embassy in Peru, the Ministry of Culture, and the PUCP Cultural Center to bring the best of French cinema to local audiences.
