ATHENS — From April 10 to 19, 2026, the internationally celebrated Spanish duo PichiAvo are transforming a wall at 28-30 Pallados Street in Athens into their first mural in Greece. Titled An Offering to Athens, the project is a self-initiated and self-funded artistic gesture—a gift to a city whose ancient heritage has long shaped their creative vision.

At the heart of the mural is Athena, the patron goddess of Athens. In Greek myth, Athena gifted the city an olive tree, symbolizing peace and prosperity. PichiAvo revisit this founding narrative, positioning their work as a contemporary parallel: an offering in paint and color to the cultural capital that inspired them.

Executed in the duo’s signature style, the mural fuses classical sculptural imagery with vibrant graffiti, creating a visual bridge between antiquity and modern urban expression. Located near the Acropolis, the piece aims to become a new landmark within Athens’ evolving cultural landscape—a conversation between history and contemporary creativity.

The project was over two years in development, reflecting its scale and ambition. While independently conceived and driven by the artists themselves, its realization was made possible through the support of institutional partners, private patrons, and collaborators—a collective effort behind what PichiAvo describe as a deeply personal milestone.

“Bringing our work to Athens feels like completing a circle,” the duo said. “Greek culture has always been at the core of what we do. This mural is our way of giving something back, an offering to the city that has inspired us for so long.”

PichiAvo—Juan Antonio (Pichi, b. 1977) and Álvaro (Avo, b. 1985)—met in Valencia’s graffiti scene and formed their duo in 2007. Since their international debut at the North West Walls Festival in Belgium in 2015, they have completed major projects worldwide, including commissions at Wynwood Walls in Miami, the Hard Rock Stadium, and the Houston–Bowery Wall in New York, where they became the first European artists invited to paint the site.

Their portfolio ranges from monumental public interventions—such as a 26-meter sculpture for Valencia’s Fallas festival—to exhibitions and international collaborations, including projects developed for the 2024 Paris Olympic Games. In 2024, they also published Our Odyssey, their first anthology tracing their artistic journey and signature visual language.

An Offering to Athens marks a new chapter in that journey: a homecoming of sorts, not to a birthplace, but to a spiritual origin.
